Curated: Knapped series by Kal Mansur

Kal Mansur’s Knapped artworks are compelling hybrids of painting and sculpture. They are pigmented and carved epoxy slabs. Mansur pours liquid resin and uses time and temperature to create layered mounds of colour. Using a milling machine, he carves into the slab, excavating topographies of colour. These elaborate processes result in ethereal, translucent objects, appearing to be relics excavated from the future.
